ABOUT US

Birtley St Joseph's CMS Club and Parish Centre (Birtley Catholic Club) was founded in 1933, and the first buildings were relocated from the Belgian refugee settlement in Elizabethville and re-erected by club members.

Membership is open to everyone who has reached the age of 18 years and completes an application form confirming their personal commitment to the purpose and objects of the club. There are no restrictions to membership on the basis of gender, religion or ethnicity.

The large and comfortable members' bar has a pool table and multi screen televisions. There is SKY Sports and BT Sports in HD on multi screens and big screen, featuring Premier League and other live football, racing, darts ,dominoes and cards. There are frequent social events in the members bar, lounge, function room and meeting room.  The lounge, function room and meeting rooms are available for hire. The lounge, members bar and function rooms have a licensed bar serving a range of draught  beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.

While the club's origins and current management structure are closely aligned with St Joseph's Catholic Church our facilities are available to the wider community to use both as members and hirers of rooms for particular activities and functions.

We are particularly keen to support local community groups, charities and other good causes and may offer facilities free of charge where appropriate.  All bookings are at the management's discretion.  For booking confirmation contact the manager.

The club is committed to providing  a welcoming, comfortable and safe environment for members and their guests to enjoy social activities.  Drug use, drunkenness, bad language and abusive or violent behaviour will not be tolerated in the club.

There are a number of booking conditions and restrictions. These are listed on the booking form.

Among them please note that:

  • All drinks consumed on the premises must be supplied from the Club's stocks.

  • We  host 18th birthday parties only at the discretion of the committee.

  • Kissograms are not permitted.
